London to receive charging boost from 1,500 new EV chargepoints

Great news for electric vehicle owners in the capital – Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, has announced that there will be 1,500 new electric vehicle chargepoints installed across the city.

 

The £4.5m investment, which is part of the Government’s Go Ultra Low Cities programme, and is being delivered by London Councils, TfL and Mayor of London, will initially span across 25 different London boroughs, with the aim of making electric vehicles an easier and more practical option for Londoners.

Future for UK roads looking greener than ever

Electric and plug-in hybrid car registrations continue to rise and have now passed the 110,000 mark in the UK. This year alone, there has been a record-breaking increase in uptake. More than 22,400 plug-in models were registered between January and June this year, a rise of 14.3% on 2016, and 53.8% on 2015.

 

The fully-electric Nissan LEAF was the UK’s best selling plug-in car in the first six months of 2017.

Bringing Evolution to Brands Hatch

Government funding gives boost to electric taxis

Electric taxis could soon become much more commonplace on the streets of major UK cities, as the Department of Transport today announced £64 million of investment to promote their use.

 

The investment will support two schemes, the first being a new £50 million Plug-in Taxi Grant which will make it easier for taxi drivers to make the switch to electric. The Grant will give drivers up to £7,500 off the price of a new taxi.
